Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival (March 13-16) Born out of a late-winter frustration with mediocre movies on an isolated island, resident Thomas Bena begat the festival 13 years ago. Horseshoe Crabs: A History of Beach Trysts and Blue Bloods (March 20 & 25) We just love the name. With a title like that it’s sure to be a fascinating lecture — even if it is about horseshoe crabs! Susie Bowman, Felix Neck Teacher/Naturalist and Fred Hotchkiss, Director of the Marine Paleobiological Research Institute, will present. 6:30-7:30 pm. at the Oak Bluffs Library. Free.
The Selfie Show (March 23-April 2) This unique show celebrates the cultural phenomenon that inspired the “word of the year” in 2013 — The Selfie! Held at the Featherstone Center for the Arts [http://www.featherstoneart.org/Home] in Oak Bluffs, the show can be viewed daily from noon- 4 pm. Opening reception in March 23 from 4-6 pm.
